Here below a short list with some advices to exploit this particular time of the year.

  1. Take a walk around the Giardini della Biennale (Biennale Gardens) to smell all the blooming flowers, especially the jasmines ones.
  2. Visit the Fondazione Querini-Stampalia located in the sunny Campo Santa Maria Formosa. Here you can visit its great collection of art and Carlo Scarpa’s garden.
  3. Breathe the salty air of the Mediterranean sea at Lido beaches, to feel the arrival of summer.
  4. It’s time now for an ice cream break at the Nico in Zattere, in the Dorsoduro district. We recommend to take a long walk during the sunset, to admire a stunning red sun behind the majestic Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel.
  5. Take a short trip to the islands of the Venetian lagoon: especially Burano is waiting to welcome you with its bright colours!

Venice Bacaro, the best way to get in touch with the locals! http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/my-venice/venice-bacaro-the-best-way-to-get-in-touch-with-the-locals/ http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/my-venice/venice-bacaro-the-best-way-to-get-in-touch-with-the-locals/#comments Tue, 08 Mar 2016 16:51:57 +0000 http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/?p=997 When we want to socialise, the best place to go is the bacaro: a typical Venetian place, something very unique between a restaurant and a pub. When we are tired after a long day at work, or need to relax during the weekend, we definitely choose to go with our friends in one of our favourites Bacaro: in the cozy and a warm atmosphere, with good wines and appetisers!

In every district of Venice (sestieri) you will find numerous bacari, but the area where you will find the best ones is Rialto, in the San Polo district. Don’t miss a bacaro tour to taste Venetian fish dishes as baccalà (cod), sarde in saor and delicious sea food: all of these can be accompanied by great wines from the Veneto region.

So what are you waiting for? Come to visit us in Venice to get more advices for a true Venetian experience!

10 Special Advices for a Perfect Wedding Day! http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/weddings/10-special-advices-for-a-perfect-wedding-day/ http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/weddings/10-special-advices-for-a-perfect-wedding-day/#comments Mon, 07 Mar 2016 14:42:12 +0000 http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/?p=989 Every bride makes some small mistakes when she decides to get married.
With our advices, it will be easier to avoid them:

  1. Book in advance: if you already have in mind the venue of your dreams, don’t wait until the last second to book it! Most of the most beautiful places have a waiting list of several months!
  2. Having a royal wedding dress: having a “Princess Diana” dress and then decide to get marry in the city hall (even if it is the prestigious Cavalli Palace on the Grand Canal in Venice) may not be the smartest choice…
  3. The legal to-do list: If you decide to get married in a foreign country (let’s say Italy, maybe Venice) make sure everything is ok with the documents before going to the Townhall. The documents are a fundamental, more than flowers!
  4. Decors VS Venue: remember to always think about the venue before planning the decor. Same for the wedding dress: choosing the one before the other can be a total disaster!
  5. Think about a back up: a wedding in the open air is really romantic, but you should also consider a back up in case of bad weather.
  6. Take some time to look at the details of your wedding ceremony and reception: the  decors are very important and you will remember your great day also through these when you will look at your wedding photos.
  7. Keep it simple: follow Coco Chanel’s rule “take off something before going out”! Don’t overdo with the decorations, or it will be hard to keep an elegant and delicate atmosphere.
  8. Make up: take your time to enjoy your professional make up artist, the time for the preparation should be a relax moment.
  9. Don’t forget to eat: so many things to do and so many people to talk to… and at the end of the day you and your groom are starving! Always remember that it is your day, so don’t be ashamed to take some time to grab some food.
  10. Bouquet: some flowers composition are really hard to match with wedding dresses (or any dress). Bring a photo of your wedding dress when you will go to your florist meeting, and he will know how to suggest you properly.
  11. You can’t do it all alone! If you really want to enjoy your special day, you have to stop thinking about the organisation and the schedule time. Just enjoy every moment of your perfect day!God created wedding planners to help you arrive safely at the end of the day, and without a care!

Tom & Annie’s winter wedding in Venice http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/weddings/tom-annies-winter-wedding-in-venice/ http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/weddings/tom-annies-winter-wedding-in-venice/#comments Fri, 04 Mar 2016 09:01:56 +0000 http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/?p=986 Thomas and Annie met each other 8 months ago.

As Annie replied to everyone asking if they weren’t getting married too early: “When you know you know”. And yes, we believe when you love someone, you just know.
Now matter what age you are and how long you have been together.

Tom & Annie started their journey together getting married in Venice.
Their intimate winter wedding has been a joyful breath of fresh air and our greatest satisfaction was seeing love and happiness in their eyes.

Annie was surrounded by her four beautiful sisters and arrived to the church after a luxurious gondola ride through the Grand Canal with her father.

The photographer caught a great picture of Annie’s father looking at her between her four sisters: there was so much complicity going on between those four fabulous girls!

When Annie arrived at the entrance of the church with her four sisters, she was radiant.
She entered the church without hesitation and she reached Tom’s side by walking on the red carpet full of rose petals.

The ceremony was intimate and touching, with some funny moments: the groom nearly tripped over the altar’s steps and everyone burst out laughing.

After the ceremony, Thomas and Annie took some time inside the church to talk on their own.
They took some time to talk about their feelings and their new adventure together, before exiting the church and start celebrating with their guests.

At the moment of the Wedding cake, fireworks illuminated the entire rooftop terrace with a terrific view on the city! We couldn’t think of anything more romantic than dancing on the top of the Venice skyline.

By looking at their wedding day’s pictures, their love and spontaneous joy truly stand out.

10 ways to make your Wedding in Venice Kids Friendly! http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/weddings/10-ways-to-make-your-wedding-in-venice-kids-friendly/ http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/all/weddings/10-ways-to-make-your-wedding-in-venice-kids-friendly/#comments Thu, 11 Feb 2016 16:37:28 +0000 http://www.venicefirst.com/blog/?p=935 Weddings can be very boring for kids: uncomfortable clothes, never-ending ceremonies and a lot of waiting and standing while adults celebrate. By dinner time, kids tend to be exhausted and unhappy. With some little tricks you can turn your wedding into a dream party for both adults and kids!

1 – Kids’ welcome kit

In Venice, we love welcoming kids with a special kit: a gondolier’s hat and a striped t-shirt, a colouring book about the city, a Venetian mask, balloons.. and much more!

2 – Kids’ space

Let kids have their own dedicated space with cushions, games, candies, fresh fruit juices.

This way, they can relax anytime they want to.

3 – Baby sitters

Baby sitters will be a fundamental reference point for the kids: they will gain kids’ trust with kindness and beautiful games. This way, kids will not annoy the parents for every little thing.

4 – Allow them to join you anytime they want

kids should have a dedicated space with games and activities but they should feel free to join their parents anytime they want to!

This way, when your kids will come to your table they will always be smiling.

5 – Jongleur

A jongleur will gather all the guests: kids will take active part in the show and they will love it!

6 – Kids menu

Make sure kids have their own dedicated menu with french fries, small hamburgers, fresh fruit juices, and a lot of yummy things to nibble!

7 -  Ice cream cart

Kids will not believe their own eyes: an ice-cream cart just for them!

8 – Barefoot!

Make sure the party venue have some open air space for kids! They will enjoy running and jumping and playing on the ground.

9 – Dive in!

If the venue has a swimming pool advise the kids to bring a swimming suit. Of course by the swimming pool there will be the baby sitter and a lifeguard. Children will have fun in complete safety.

10 – Give them responsibility

Include them in the ceremony, making them bring the rings or throw flower petals on the floor.

They will feel important and will put a lot of effort in their tasks… all the guests will love them!
